New York 2016 - Day 1

 

 

First of all,I want to thank Franz who's been my guide during this week, and took me to places I wouldn't have been to without him. This journey wouldn't have been the same without you.

 
 

Waking-up to a new world, I can already feel the beat of the city.
Réveil dans  un nouveau monde. Je peux déjà sentir les battements de la ville.

Third Avenue will be my Headquarter for this week.
Mon quartie général sur la 3eme Avenue.

 
First subway trip to the most beautiful train and subway station : Grand Central Terminal.
Premier déplacement en métro jusqu'à la magnifique station de Grand Central

Wandering in the streets, enjoying every single New York icon, a fire hydrant, a yellow cab.
Premières balade dans les rues de New-York ou j'apprecie chaque symbole de la grosse pomme. 

The majestic Chrysler Building emerges
Le majestueux Chrysler building apparait au détour d'une rue.

Here's Bryant Park. I really appreciate all these green parks downtown. It's always a nice place to take a break, breathe and recharge the batteries.
New York est rempli de parcs verdoyants ou il est toujours bon de faire une petite pause pour se ressourcer. Ici, Bryant park.

Heading now to the heart of Manhattan : Time Square

I have to admit that this iconic place is not my favorite. I'll take a couple of pictures before heading to some more authentic neighborhood.

Je dois bien l'avouer, cette icone de Manhattan n'est pas mon endroit préféré. Le temps de prendre quelques clichés et je me dirigie vers d'autres quartiers plus authentiques.

Washington square park.

The high line, a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side.
La High Line, un espace vert publique construit sur une ancienne voie ferrée aérienne. 

An amazing character on the high line. Frightening !! Is he going to move, is he real or fake. He finally appears to be a statue.
Une statue étonnante, et déroutante. Je me suis demandé pendant un moment si il allait bouger.

It's now time to go to the Yankee Stadium for a first and unique baseball experience. Baseball : "A three hours game that takes three hours to play".
Une première et unique experience au Yankee Stadium pour suivre une rencontre entre les New York Yankee et les Blue Jays (Toronto).

Everybody going to a game dreams to make the big screen for a few seconds. You usually need to be a kid with Cowboy hat, a veteran with a flag or wear a stupid furry outfit.

What a better evidence that in NYC everything is possible : Lay's potato chips needed two people to hold some bag of chips for a short commercial on the big screen. It goes without saying that we sold our soul for a few seconds of fame.

Probably a once in a lifetime experience.

Le clou de la soirée aussi incroyable qu'improbable. C'est le rêve de chacun d'apparaitre sur le grand écran pour quelques secondes. A moins d'être un enfant avec un chapeau de Cow-boy, ou un vétéran avec un drapeau ou de porter un déguisement de poussin il y a peu de chance pour que ça arrive. Est-ce la magie de New York ? mais ce soir, nous avons été choisis pour tenir des paquets de Chips et apparaitre dans un spot commercial pour Lay's.
